Mýa Releases New Song “Just a Little Bit” featuring Too $hort

American singer-songwriter Mýa joined forces with American rapper Too $hort to release a new song “Just a Little Bit” on May 1, 2026.
This marks the first collaboration between Mýa and Too $hort.
The song is taken from her upcoming tenth studio album “Retrospect”, which is set to be released on May 15, 2026 via her own label Planet 9.
Leaning deep into the late '80s funk that anchors the album, the track rides a flirtatious, synth-heavy rhythm that finds Mýa at her most confident and self-assured.
The City James-directed music video channels the same playful funk-forward energy that defines the record - a world built from shimmering synths, and bold color palettes.
Retro-futurist in spirit, unmistakably modern in execution.
The track was written by Mya Harrison, Lamar 'MyGuyMars' Edwards, Dominique 'Dom' Logan, Darius Logan, and Todd Shaw. Produced by Mya Harrison and Lamar 'MyGuyMars' Edwards.
It features MyGuyMars on bass, piano, percussion, drum programming, and string ensemble.- The new album comprises 16 tracks, featuring guest appearances from Snoop Dogg, Joyner Lucas, D-Nice, Dizzy Wright, Phil Adé, and Too $hort. Produced by Mýa and MyGuyMars.
Mýa said of the album, “It's a bridge between the past and the future. We created this project with the intention to transport us back to a special time in music and culture that brought so much love, laughter, joy and reflection to our lives. The days of cassette tapes, vinyl, the most amazing gatherings, concerts, house parties, skate nights and date nights. Who's ready to go back?!” -
Mýa told ABC News about the album, “This particular project, retrospect, has a very west coast funk element to it. Even though it's soul, even though it's R&B pop and funk. There's still Hip-Hop fused with the percussion aspect and and the drum sounds. So I thought it would be a nice balance. Especially because I'm known for those types of collaborations to bring that element just not that element, but the OGS of that element.”
She continued, “I am officially a 70s baby. But I grew up in a beautiful musical household of vinyl, a big collection that my parents owned. And it was a very joyful experience hearing real music, live composition that I wanted to bring to this particular project. And transporting myself during the pandemic to those types of playlists really brought me a lot of joy. And because I have done funk music in the past on previous albums, I wanted a full body experience of it, and that's what an album serves.” - source : Apple Music
