Kelela Announces New Album “new avatar”, Shares New Song “linknb”
New York-based singer-songwriter Kelela has announced her upcoming third studio album “new avatar” will be released on July 10, 2026 via Warp Records.
It marks her first album in three year, following the 2023 album “Raven”
The album comprises 12 tracks, featuring guest appearances from British singer-songwriter A. K. Paul, American singer-songwriter Fousheé, and London-based singer-songwriter PinkPantheress. Produced by Oscar Scheller, it blends shoegaze, grunge, R&B, and electronic music.
Kelela said of the album, “This album finds solace in confronting. I don't want the music to be a distraction from what's really going on in the world; I want it to make sense in this crazy moment while helping people get in touch with the beauty and joy they're also experiencing.”
She added, “People also need to know that my friends and I are laughing constantly and that humor isn't a defense mechanism; it's an expression of how sharp our read is and how clearly we see the world.”- Alongside the announcement, she unveiled a new song “linknb” on May 5, 2026.
The song is the second single off of the album, following “idea 1”.
It was written by Kelela Mizanekristos, Oscar Scheller, Jordan Houston, Paul D Beauregard, and Derrick Hill. Produced by Kelela and Oscar Scheller.
The accompanying music video was directed by Mischa Notcutt and filmed in New York.
The track was written during a season of writer's block, as a mantra to help her re-engage in creative work. -
