Natalie Imbruglia Announces New Album “Algorithm”, Shares New Song “Upside Down”
Australian-British singer-songwriter Natalie Imbruglia has announced her upcoming seventh studio album “Algorithm” will be released on September 4, 2026 via Landgirl Records.
It is her first album in five years, following the 2021 album “Firebird”.
The album comprises 12 tracks, all co-produced and co-written by Natalie Imbruglia, with collaborators including MyRiot, David Sneddon, Northern Irish alt-rock band Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody, Anu Pillai, Mark Crew, and others.
Natalie Imbruglia said of the album, “On this record I chose to work with collaborators who also co-produce, so from start to finish we were all so invested in every song,” Imbruglia says. “I really hope that people get as much joy from listening to this record as we did making it. And that they dance their arses off. This was by far the most fun I've ever had making a record. It also happened to coincide with the most challenging time I've had with my mental health. This is the beauty of music and artistic expression. You can take something dark and turn it into light.”- From the album, she released the first single called “Upside Down” on April 29, 2026.
The song received its first play during BBC The Radio 2 Breakfast Show.
It was written by Natalie Imbruglia, Anu Pillai, and David Sneddon. Produced by Natalie Imbruglia and Anu Pillai.
Natalie Imbruglia said of the song, “The inability to control my emotions, wrestling with fight or flight mode, was awful, and I was reaching this critical point with it. In a way, the song is about how sheer willpower - trying to force your way out of something – doesn't always work. You need tools, support. So that's where the song was born from, that fight to maintain a semblance of what some might consider normality.” -
