  • Borderline Announces Self-Titled Debut Album, Shares New Song “That Girl”

  • New Zealand indie pop-rock band Borderline, consisting of Ben Glanfield (vocals/guitar), Matthew McFadden (guitar), Jackson Boswell (drums) and Max Harries (bass), has announced their upcoming self-titled debut album will be released on June 26, 2026 via EMPIRE.

The album 13 tracks, produced by Nic Manders and Harry Charles.

The band said of the album, “Our self-titled debut album is something we're all incredibly proud of. It's the sum of every single corner of musical inspiration from all four of us. Every song has its own character and place for us, shaped through sessions in home studios and late nights, before coming together in Roundhead's Brick Room, taking advantage of the vintage synths and timepiece guitars, as we explored and refined the overarching soundscape for the project.”

From the album, the band released the fifth single called “That Girl” on April 30, 2026.
The accompanying music video was directed by Tom Grut, who also their previous video for “Watching It Burn”.
  • They said of the song, “The track leans so hard into our love of 80s over-the-top instrumentation. It's littered with live vintage synths, sounds, and Michael Jackson / Prince-inspired vocals. We are all so proud of how this song came together in the studio. The result of four musicians not shying away from self-indulgence. That Girl is a great representation of our musicianship, and what happens when we let loose a bit on our instruments and just have fun.”

  • The band said of the video, “The music video for That Girl was our most ambitious yet. We knew this song needed a really high-energy video, and the concept came really quickly. We shot the video at an old abandoned asylum now turned haunted house - it was a little spooky at times, but it was the most fun shoot we've ever done. We really wanted to channel an old school Scooby Doo vibe with our outfits, set design and art direction, which was so much fun to play around with. We're really proud of our massive crew and us to have pulled it off, and we're incredibly happy with how it turned out.”
