John Newman Returns With New Song “Merry Go”
London-based singer-songwriter John Newman returned with a new song “Merry Go” on May 1, 2026.
Since 2021, he has focused on electronic music as a DJ, but this year, he has decided to return to his roots as a singer-songwriter.
Last month, he released a reimagined of his debut song “Love Me Again”.
The new song will appear on his upcoming third studio album, which is expected to be released in 2026.
It was written by John Newman, Joe Kearns, and Hannah Boleyn. Produced by John Newman, Joe Kearns, and Robin Klaver.
The track features Little Rae of Sunshine on vocals, Tim De Bie on percussion, and Joe Kearns on drum programming.
He has already filmed a music video for the song, which is coming on May 6, 2026.- John Newman said of the song, “Being out in Europe and around the world again made me realise how much I'd missed that raw and deeper feeling you only get when you're reconnecting with audiences and rebuilding yourself creatively. This track really came from that moment of rediscovery. At the same time, I became a father to my incredible daughter - and you can actually hear her right at the very start of the track. It's just a tiny moment, but it means a lot to me and felt like a special way to have her be part of this new chapter. The song has a fun, uplifting energy, and I hope people enjoy it throughout the summer and the rest of the year. It feels amazing to be back.”

John Newman shared, “Hey guys I wanted to give you an update. Over the past 5 years of building myself up in the electronic world has been the most amazing and rewarding thing. I always said that child in me wanted to achieve what he set out to do and feels that thats been pretty much achieved. It's been incredible to experiance the shows I have and take on a whole new fan base, however, this will be the final year that I will only dedicate my time to that show. I had a very difficult time in 2021 when facing the decline of success and to be honest needed to run away with my heart from it. Since then I have slowly built my confidence back and my belief in my self. When I started rebuilding in 2021 I opened the door to be a laughing stock, a singer trying to DJ, which feels so far away now after them special nights at Tomorrowland.”
He continued, “But I have found that confidence as a strong, grown experienced and talented individual and I now know it's time to embrace that character you all knew before and first loved and welcome him back in. It's not about one or the other though. Its about I feel strong enough and focussed enough now to become the final product of what I have always wanted to be and be respected for all the work I put in, not just singing. I am currently working on an album to come this year, singles to come before and believe me it feels like the rite thing to do for me now.
