Keith Urban Announces New Album “flow state”, Shares New Song “We Go Back” featuring Michael McDonald
Australian singer-songwriter Keith Urban has announced his upcoming thirteenth studio album “flow state” will be released on June 12, 2026 via Hit Red and MCA Nashville.
It is his first covers album and is the first release since the 2024 album “High”.
The album comprises 11 tracks, including 10 covers of yacht rock songs and one original song, featuring guest appearances from Michael McDonald, John Mayer, and Little Big Town.
Keith Urban said of the album, “The origins of this kind of music was, in certain ways, a reaction and an antidote to the stresses of the times. Its sole mission (and soul mission) is unchanged...to bring us together and remind us that life is happening NOW - the eternal now- and we have far more in common than not. I hope wherever you hear this album you can feel the exhale, comfort and optimism these songs were originally written by and for.”
Alongside the announcement, he released a new song “We Go Back” featuring American singer-songwriter Michael McDonald and a cover of American soft rock duo Seals & Crofts' “Summer Breeze” on April 29, 2026.- “We Go Back” is the only original song on the album. On the track, he worked with the legendary Michael McDonald, marking their first collaboration.
Keith Urban said of the song, “Called in the king of yacht rock to sing on my song. He said 'yes'.”
The track was written by Keith Urban, BRELAND, Sam Sumser, and Sean Small. Produced by Keith Urban and Dann Huff.
The original version of “Summer Breeze” was released by Seals & Crofts in 1972. The reached No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
