  • Jutes Releases New Song “Icarus”

  • Los Angeles-based Canadian pop-punk singer-songwriter Jordan Lutes, aka Jutes released a new song “Icarus” on April 29, 2026.

The song is the follow-up to “Disassociate”, which was released last month.
Named after the ill-fated figure of Greek mythology, the track examines the thin line between ambition and self-destruction, asking what it means to chase recognition at any cost and what remains when it’s gone.
It was written by Jordan Lutes and Keith Sorrells, who also produced the track.
The track features Keith Sorrells on guitar, drums, and synthesizer, Mike Stand on guitar, and Patrick Carpenter on guitar.
The accompanying music video was directed by B.K. Barone.

Jutes said of the song, “This song is about someone standing on a rooftop thinking about jumping so they can finally be somebody. Trading their life for a moment in the sky with all eyes on them. But as many jumpers do, regretting it once you take the leap and knowing it's too late to go back.”
  • Jutes told ABC Audio about the song, “Younger me feeling invisible and feeling like I wasn't getting anywhere with my music. I was just, like, so hungry to be noticed ['Icarus'] is just touching on those past feelings. I was romanticizing the broken artist thing. It also felt like a way of not needing to get better, because I thought it was, like, fuel. I've found now that I write the best songs of my life and I'm in the best place in my life, and I'm sober. I care about my health and I do wanna live long, now. I have a wife that I wanna stay alive for, I wanna have a family one day, all that stuff.”
