Citizen Announces New Album “Halcyon Blues”, Shares New Song “Highs and Lows”

American rock band Citizen, consisting of Mat Kerekes (lead vocals), Nick Hamm (lead guitar), Eric Hamm (bass), Ben Russin (drums) and Mason Mercer (rhythm guitar), has announced their upcoming sixth studio album “Halcyon Blues” will be released on August 7, 2026 via Run For Cover Records.
It is their first album since the 2023 album “Calling the Dogs”. Also, it is the first release with new members Ben Russin and Mason Mercer.
The album comprises 11 tracks, which the band recorded the band frontman Mat Kerekes' home studio in Toledo, Ohio.
The band guitarist Nick Hamm said of the album, “A lot of bands try to do anything they can to be the hottest thing of the moment and we've just never operated like that. We don't think in moments, or months, or record cycles. Some bands end up getting sick of whatever walls they exist in, but I see Citizen as this long term creative project where there's always somewhere new to go, and that's kept me exhilarated through all these years. And we've trusted that people who like our band will want to come along. A lot of people grew with us and we're really thankful for that.”- Alongside the announcement, the band released the lead single called “Highs and Lows” from the album on April 28, 2026.
The song is accompanied by the Josh Pfaff-directed music video.
It was written and produced by Mat Kerekes, Nick Hamm, Eric Hamm, Mason Mercer, and Ben Russin. -
