Holly Humberstone Performs “Cruel World” & Cover of Harry Styles' “Coming Up Roses” on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge
British singer-songwriter Holly Humberstone appeared on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to perform “Cruel World” and a cover of British singer-songwriter Harry Styles' “Coming Up Roses”.
This marks her third appearance as a musical guest on Radio 1 Live Lounge following 2022 and 2023.
“Cruel World” is the title track of her sophomore album “Cruel World”, which was released on April 10, 2026. As the third single, the track was released back in March.
After the release of the album, she performed the song at Coachella 2026.
It was written by Holly Ffion Humberstone, Rob Milton, Jake Greene, and Benjamin Francis Leftwich.
Holly Humberstone told Apple Music about the song, “It’s about a long-distance relationship and how your whole perception of the world around you can look so different when that one person is missing. We [Humberstone alongside regular collaborators Rob Milton and Benjamin Francis Leftwich] were picturing being in a club where all these couples around you are making out-it just reminds you how alone you are. This song is also cheeky and fun. It’s the euphoric feeling that comes with being in love, matched with some darker-toned lyrics.”- “Coming Up Roses” is featured on Harry Styles' fourth studio album “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally”, which was released back in March.
The track was written by Harry Styles and produced by Kid Harpoon.
