Icona Pop Announces New Album “Ritual”, Shares New Song “Dance To This”
Swedish electro-pop duo Icona Pop, consisting of Aino Jawo and Caroline Hjelt, has announced their upcoming fourth studio album “Ritual” will be released on August 14, 2026 via Ultra Records/Iconic Sound Recordings.
It is their first album in three years, following the 2023 album “Club Romantech”.
Alongside the announcement, the duo released a new song “Dance To This” on April 24, 2026.
The song is the second single off of the album, following the title track released last month.
It was written by Aino Jawo, Caroline Hjelt, Sebastian Furrer, Wilhelm Börjesson, Ines Dunn, and Joakim Jarl. Produced by Sebastian Furrer.
The accompanying music video was directed by Gustav Stegfors.
Aino Jawo said of the song, “The production definitely reminds me of old Icona Pop. We could perform it live, but we could also put it in a DJ set.”
Caroline Hjelt added, “It's one of those nights when you're finding yourself by going out... it's the moment you see yourself dancing and connected to your essence.”- The album comprises 10 tracks, which the duo recorded with producers Sebastian Furrer, and Jason Gill at their studio, featuring Swedish singer-songwriter Tove Lo and American singer-songwriter Daya.
“Ritual” finds Icona Pop at their most honest, liberated, and emotionally fearless, featuring friendship, reinvention, motherhood, heartbreak, healing, and joy.
The duo said of the album, “Healing requires you to slow down and reflect, but you can't work on yourself 24/7 forever. Eventually, you have to get back out into the world and see what happens. You might mess up-but that could be exactly what you need. For us, the dance floor has always been a place where we find ourselves and each other again. It's where we can disappear into the music and let go of everything else.” -
