Kim Petras Premieres New Song “Need For Speed” on BBC Radio 1
Los Angeles-based German singer-songwriter Kim Petras premiered a new song “Need For Speed” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The song is the fourth single off of her upcoming third studio album “Detour”, which is expected o be released in 2026 via her own label BunHead Records.
Back in January, Kim Petras asked Republic Records to release her from her contract because the label has stalled the release of her new album. After that, she has released 4-track project “Pretour” exclusively through YouTube and SoundCloud.
The album is her first full-length since the 2023 “Problématique”.
The track was written by Kim Petras, Madison Love, Margo Wildman, Nick Weiss, Angel Prost, and Lulu Prost. Produced by Kim Petras, Margo XS, Frost Children, and Nightfeelings.
The accompanying music video was directed by Ashley Hood.- Kim Petras said of the song, “Constant push for more hits and more success, which ultimately erases your personality until your only personality trait is being so busy and fast that you basically don't have a life.”
She continued, “Describe this feeling of being in a machine, but wanting to break out of it and feeling like you've become this monster version of yourself that isn't able to let anyone in because there is nothing there except the need for going further and faster.” - source : BBC Radio 1
