  • Linda Perry Releases New Song “Balboa Park”

  • American singer-songwriter Linda Perry released the third single called “Balboa Park” from her upcoming solo album “Let It Die Here” on April 17, 2026, following “Beautiful” and “Let It Die Here”.

The album is set to be released on May 8, 2026 via Kill Rock Stars and 670 Records.
The song title “Balboa Park” refers to a historic urban cultural park in San Diego, where she lived as a teenager in the 1980s and experienced homelessness.
Throughout the 1980s to the 1990s, there were multiple reports of vandalism, murder, rape, arson, and petty crime in the park.
Inspired by this negative publicity, American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen wrote a song of the same name “Balboa Park”, which was featured on his 1995 eleventh studio album “The Ghost of Tom Joad”.
Linda Perry wrote and produced “Balboa Park”. It portrays a youth marked by exclusion, addiction, and emotional pain.
The track features Ben Lecourt on drums, Billy Mohler on bass, Nick Maybury on guitar, Joe Guese on guitar, Chris Price on organ, along with 17 string players.
  • Linda Perry said of the song, “I'm dropping a new song called 'Balboa Park'. It's the first song on my new album, 'Let It Die Here'. You know, I'm singing a little funny in it, because it represents a time in my life, when I was younger. I was basically living at Balboa Park with all my punks and mod friends and drag queens and queers. And it was just a really great time. And there was an innocence, even though a lot of it was dark. And I don't know so the song is the story. I hope you enjoy it and have a great day.”

The new album comprises 17 tracks, written and produced by Linda Perry. It is her first solo album in 27 years, following the 1999 album “After Hours”.
The album was made during the filming of the documentary of the same name, directed by Don Hardy. The film is scheduled to be released on May 19, 2026.
