Lana Del Rey Releases New Song “First Light” for James Bond Video Game “007 First Light”
American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey released a new song “First Light” for the upcoming James Bond video game “007 First Light” on April 16, 2026.
It is the official theme for the video game and received its first play during BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Sian Eleri.
The video game was developed by IO Interactive, featuring an origin story, starring Patrick Gibson as James Bond, Lenny Kravitz as Bawma The Pirate King, Priyanga Burford as M, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, Kiera Lester as Miss Moneypenny, Noemie Nakia as Miss Roth, and Lennie James as John Greenway.
A launch on Xbox, PlayStation and PC is scheduled for May 27, 2026, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version releasing later this year.
The track was written and produced by Lana Del Rey, and David Arnold, who previously scored five James Bond films.
David Arnold said of the song, “The Bond theme is a unique storytelling moment; it has to capture scale, drama, and intrigue all at once. Having been part of that musical lineage, I understand how important it is to honor its heritage while allowing it to evolve. Lana brought an elegance and atmosphere to the song that felt perfectly suited to continuing that tradition while introducing something fresh for a new era.”- Lana Del Rey previously contributed “24” from her fourth album “Honeymoon” for the 2015 James Bond film “Spectre”.
However, British singer-songwriter Sam Smith was ultimately chosen with “Writing's On the Wall”, which won Best Original Song at the 2016 Academy Awards.
