  • Honey Dijon Premieres New Song “Satisfied” featuring Jacob Lusk on BBC Radio 1

  • American DJ Honey Dijon premiered a new song “Satisfied” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Sian Eleri.

The song is the fourth and final pre-release single from her upcoming album “The Nightlife”, which is out this Friday (April 17th).
On the track, she teamed up with American singer-songwriter Jacob Lusk.
It was written by Luke Francis Matthew Solomon, Christopher Lawrence Penny, Honey Redmond, Sophie Elton, Dave Giles II, Ts Madison, Marlon Roudette, Marlon Roudette, and Corece Smith. Produced by Honey Dijon, Luke Solomon, and Chris Penny.

Honey Dijon told Sian Eleri about the song, “The thing that we need to know about this song is that I got to work with one of the most talented artists today, Jacob Lusk, who I have such an admiration for, and who just completely slayed his performance at Coachella with Moby. And it was the perfect timing, because my album is out. And he saw it. And this is a song that's on it. And it was so great. And it was super fun. And we recorded it at Huxa Studios, incredible.”
  • She continued, “I think, listen and understand and will you be satisfied. But it also, if you know, there's a cameo from Ts Madison, right? And it was also a way of talking about what's really going on in America. In the political, current political climate in America, and especially from people of color, and they've stripped away so many rights from queer people and women and people of color, and what they're doing with deportation. And it's like you've done all of this and you're still not satisfied. When will you be satisfied. You brought me over here against my will. You're taking everything away from me, and it's still not enough. And it's sort of like listen and understand you're stripping our humanity away from us. So in one way, it's a nod to house means a culture, but also it's a social commentary of what the state of the world that we're all living in and how none of us are separate from each other. It's not what's going over there, it's not what's happening in Gaza or what's happening in the United States, it's happening to all of us. And so I always like to put joy, but also consciousness in my music.”

She added, “So much art comes out of marginalization and oppression. When you think about what your role is as an artist and is to reflect, to comment, to critique, but also give people a sense of escape and also give people a sense of celebration and joy. So that's what I tried to do.”

  • The new album comprises 14 tracks, featuring guest appearances from Adi Oasis, Bree Runway, Chlöe, Cor.Ece, Danielle Ponder, Dave Giles II, Gavin Turek, Greentea Peng, Jacob Lusk, Madison McFerrin, Mahalia, METTE, Rochelle Jordan, Rush Davis and Suni MF. Produced by Chris Penny, Honey Dijon and Luke Solomon.

Honey Dijon said of the album, “For this particular song, it was gospel, it was house, it was political consciousness music getting that balance between sort of the underground and culture at large. And so that's what we tried to do with this record. We wanted you to be able to enjoy this record on the dance floor just as much as you can on your way to Tesco or getting on the tube.”
