  • Tenille Arts Releases New Song “If Somebody Told Me You Were Dying”

  • Nashville-based Canadian country music singer-songwriter Tenille Arts released the first single of 2026 called “If Somebody Told Me You Were Dying” on April 10, 2026.

The song follows the 2025 singles “Unbecoming” and “Don't Ruin Flowers”.
The idea for the track came from a late-night conversation, when she realized she hadn’t seen her ex in two years.
Written by Tenille Arts with Lydia Sutherland and Joe Tounge, the song puts storytelling front and center as one of her most vulnerable releases to date, with a cinematic and haunting sound.
Produced by Joe Tounge and Todd Tran. The accompanying music video was directed by Ryan Nolan.
  • Tenille Arts said of the song, “This song digs into the strange, unresolved emotions that followed a breakup with someone who used to be such a huge part of my life who became someone I didn’t want to see again. That became the heart of the song and the question at the center of it: if somebody told me you were dying, would I even make it to the funeral?”

She added, “The second verse says everything you need to know about why this song needed to be written. It wasn’t just Minneapolis... it was years of dealing with a huge secret (since December of 2022)... that I would have taken to the grave. So no, I probably wouldn’t make it to the funeral. It’s a miracle I’m even here. This is part of my story, and now it’s all yours.”
