  • Royel Otis Premieres New Song “Sweet Hallelujah” on BBC Radio 1

  • Sydney-based guitar-pop duo Royel Otis, consisting of Royel Maddell (guitar/vocals) and Otis Pavlovic (guitar/vocals), premiered a new song “Sweet Hallelujah” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

The song is their first new music since the 2025 album “hickey”. Also, it was released ahead of their debut showing at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival on April 11 and 18, 2026.
It was written by Otis Pavlovic, Royel Maddell, and Shawn Everett, who also produced the track.
The track features Shawn Everett on Keyboard, Maxwell Karmazyn on violin and viola, and Dennis Karmazyn on cello.
The accompanying music video was directed by Lauren Dunn.

The duo said of the song, “It’s a love letter of goodbye to someone you want to know that no matter what happens things won’t change the way you feel about them.”
  • Otis Pavlovic told Jack Saunders about the song, “I was watching 'Harold and Maude', an old film. You should watch it. And I wanted this song to sound like it was from the soundtrack for that.”

He continued, “We tried to keep the instruments as like, acoustic and organic as possible. And so like everything is pretty much just like a microphone in the room and just bashing, like the piano, acoustic guitar, even like the percussive drums and stuff.”

Royel Maddell added, “For me, it's pretty anthemic. And it feels like it's in a bit of a new direction for us, which is exciting. It feels like we're being a bit more experimental with this one.”
