Arkells Releases New Song “What's On Your Mind” featuring Poolside
Canadian alt-rock band Arkells, consisting of Max Kerman (vocals/rhythm guitar), Mike DeAngelis (lead guitar), Nick Dika (bass), Tim Oxford (drums) and Anthony Carone (keyboards), released a new song “What's On Your Mind” on April 8, 2026.
This time, the band teamed up with Los Angeles-based recording project Poolside on the track.
The song is the fifth single of their upcoming album “Between Us”, which is set to be released on April 17, 2026.
It is the disco-esque track with a synth-heavy, indie pop-rock gem.
The track was written by Jeffrey Paradise, Max Kerman, Michael DeAngelis, Anthony Carone, Nick Dika, and Tim Oxford. Produced by John Congleton.
The band frontman Max Kerman said of the song, “We wanted a song that felt hypnotic-where the chords don't move much, and the rhythm and melody do all the heavy lifting. It's my favourite thing about seeing dance music live: how it can loop and loop and loop, and the longer it goes, the better it feels. We went deep into synth-world on this one.”- He continued, “We toured with Poolside and saw the power of repetition. What restraint can offer to the crowd. The patience of building a song with the groove dictating everything. The song was just about finished when we asked Poolside to add some shine to it all. Our music has ended up in all kinds of places, and we hope this ends up on some dance floors.”
The new album comprises 11 tracks, featuring guest appearance from GROUPLOVE, Portugal. The Man, and Poolside, produced by John Congleton. It is their first original album in three years, following the 2023 album “Laundry Pile”. Also, it follows the 2024 covers album “Disco Loadout (Volume 1)”.
The cover was shot by Boston-based artist and photographer Pelle Cass, who photographed the vibrant image of Arkells atop Hamilton's Jackson Square rooftop - a nod to their roots. -
