Matilda Mann Premieres New Song “Bittersweet” on BBC Radio 1
London-based singer-songwriter Matilda Mann premiered a new song “Bittersweet” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The song is the second release as an independent artist, following “Inventing” released last November.
It was written by Matilda Mann, Jonah Summerfield, and Mats Sandahl. Produced by Jonah Summerfield and MASAKA.
The track features Luke Robinson on guitar, Jed Bevington on string, Noah Conrad on trumpet, Ryan Linvill on sax, and Joshoo on flugelhorn.
Matilda Mann told Jack Saunders about the song, “I wrote it really subconsciously. So I guess I had a kind of made up idea of what it was about. And then once we had recorded it, I played it on tour. Even though it was unreleased, I realized what it was about. And it was a weird moment just writing for myself.”- She continued, “I guess it's kind of about people that I grew up with. And specifically I went to school with, just kind of the gist of people I went to school with, and how I went to I saw them every day for five years. and even if I didn't know them really well, we just don't know each other anymore, which is really sad. You can't keep in touch with everybody. Like my teenage years, I grew up with these people, and they were a really cool part of my life. And, like, even teachers as well. I had amazing teachers at school. And I knew a lot about them. They knew a lot about me and now we don't really talk.”

She added, “I couldn't write for ages after Roxwell, and then last April, I guess a year ago, I just wrote so many songs. The sun probably came out. Honestly, that's probably what happened. And then I've written quite a lot since, and I really just wanted to get it out, because they all feel like very summery happy songs.” - source : BBC Radio 1
