Metric Releases New Song “Crush Forever”

Canadian indie rock band Metric, consisting of Emily Haines (vocals/keyboards), James Shaw (guitar), Joules Scott-Key (drums) and Joshua Winstead (bass), released a new song “Crush Forever” on April 1, 2026.
The song is the third single off of their upcoming tenth studio album “Romanticize The Dive”, which is set to be released on April 24, 2026 via Thirty Tigers.
It was written by Gavin Brown, Liam O'Neil, James Shaw, and Emily Haines. Produced by Gavin Brown, Liam O'Neil, Jimmy Shaw, and John O'Mahony.
The accompanying music visualizer was directed by Fezz & Chess.
The band lead singer Emily Haines said of the song, “I'm really hoping it will make you happy for 4 minutes and 32 seconds, ideally longer if you have it on repeat. This song is my love letter to strong girls in the world, a stream-of-consciousness style passing of the torch.”- The new album comprises 11 tracks, the band recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York with producers Gavin Brown and Liam O'Neil. It is their first album since the 2023 album “Formentera II”.
Emily Haines told NME about the album, “For this record, we put back the OG crew that made 'Fantasies' so we could really look back at what our process was back then. When we were looking for direction, we would go back and listen to our own work. It makes sense on your 10th album to ask, 'What would Metric do?' I don't know! Let's remember. What is the essence of the sound and the emotion of what we are? We were so proud of 'Formentera' I and II, but that was really so exploratory. That's cool and we can do that for the rest of our lives but Jimmy said, 'Let's just have one more shot at the essence of who we are.'” - source : Apple Music
