James Arthur Teams Up with Symon Hook for Cover of Etta James' “At Last” featuring Derek Trucks

British singer and songwriter James Arthur teamed up with Berlin-based producer Symon Hook to release a cover of American R&B singer-songwriter Etta James' “At Last” featuring American guitarist Derek Trucks on March 27, 2026.
This mars the first time James Arthur, Symon Hook and Derek Trucks have worked together.
For James Arthur, the song is the first release since the 2025 album “Pisces”.
The original version of the song was written by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren for the musical film “Sun Valley Serenade” and recorded by Glenn Miller and his orchestra in 1941.
Etta James recorded it for her debut album “At Last!” in 1960. Etta James' version reached No. 2 on the US Billboard Hot R&B Sides in 1961. It became her second number two R&B hit single.
The cover version was produced by Steven Solomon and Stephan Moritz.
The track features Derek Trucks (slide guitar), Steven Solomon (bass), Stephan Moritz (keyboards), and Troy Welstad (Hammond organ), along with choir members Emily Holligan, Jenny Adesanya, Jonathan Darko Owusu-Yianomah, Josh Edwards, Kirsten Ellington, Margorette Egbe, Matt Colthart, Richard Butt, Ruth Ellen, Sharlene Edwards, and Vanessa Livingston-Young.- James Arthur said the song, “I've just been taking a little bit of time to decompress and spend some time with my little girl. I've been in the studio a little bit, there is new music on the way, in the not to distance future, but in the meantime, just to keep you, satiated, satisfied, whatever the word you want to use, I've recorded a cover of an old song, by Etta James, called 'At Last'. It's been covered by the likes of Beyoncé, Aretha Franklin, so... big shoes to fill. But I just love this song myself and so on, the Sony sync team decided to collaborate on this. We've got one of the best guitarists on the planet, Derek Trucks, featuring on the record. So it's really special. No fanfare or anything around it. Just a little cover, a gift for you guys. I hope you like it.”
