Wilkinson Premieres New Song “Ultraviolet” featuring Katy Alex on BBC Radio 1
British DJ Mark Wilkinson, aka Wilkinson premiered a new song “Ultraviolet” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
On the track, he teamed up with Liverpool-based DJ and singer-songwriter Katy Alex.
The song is the final pre-release single from his upcoming fifth studio album “Infinity”, due out this Friday (March 27th).
“Infinity” is his first full-length record in four years, following the 2022 album “Cognition”
The track was written and produced by Wilkinson.
Wilkinson told Jack Saunders about the song, “It's been around for a little while this tune. And I couldn't really get it right. I didn't really know where I wanted to take it. But then I kind of basically this 2008 era of drum and bass was my. That's when I kind of came into it. So I just wanted to kind of be inspired by that in the production. And I took it down that road. And it feels fresh though now. So, I played it out, and it just had a really good reaction. So I feel like I got there with it.”- He said of working with Katy Alex, “I mean, she's got a great voice. I mean, originally, the record was written by Tim Douglas as well. It was actually the actual song has been a round for, like, since used to this. The actual top line, which is a long time. And it took that long to finish it. And she just bought this really fresh sort of angle to the vocal, and she smashed it. And it's just got so much energy, and it's got such like a throwback feel to it that kind of lends it to that kind of 2008 vibe that I was going for as well. So, just amazing and to get it finished. One of those records that probably took the longest time for me to finish.”

The new album comprises 14 tracks, featuring collaborations with Camo & Krooked, iiola, Kaskade, Kelli-Leigh, Kioto Bug, Mefjus, Mougleta, NORTH, Paige Cavell, Emily Makis, iiola, ILIRA, Julia Church, Katy Alex and Tom Cane.
Wilkinson said of the album, “This record has been over 3 years in the making and is a collection of all my singles plus a few new exclusive unreleased tracks. I just want to say a massive thanks to everyone that’s supported me on this journey so far...
