Courtney Barnett Releases New Song “One Thing At A Time”

Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett will release her upcoming fourth studio album “Creature of Habit” this Friday (March 27) via Mom+Pop Music and Fiction Records.
It is her first album in five years, following the 2021 album “Things Take Time, Take Time”.
From the album, she released a new song “One Thing At A Time” on March 24, 2026.
The song is the fifth and final pre-release single, following “Mantis”, “Sugar Plum”, “Site Unseen” featuring Waxahatchee, and “Stay In Your Lane”.
The song is accompanied by the Lance Bangs-directed music video, filmed in Los Angeles.
It was written and produced by Courtney Barnett, with production by Stella Mozgawa and John Congleton.
On the track, American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist Flea played bass.
Courtney Barnett said of the song, “My new song One Thing At A Time is out now, with a video directed by Lance Bangs! One Thing At A Time was recorded in LA with Stella Mozgawa on drums and Flea on bass. Produced by John Congleton and Stella Mozgawa and mastered by Heba Kadry!”- The new album comprises 10 tracks, featuring a guest appearance from Waxahatchee, produced by Courtney Barnett, Stella Mozgawa and John Congleton.
It was recorded following a period of significant upheaval for her, after she relocated from Australia to Los Angeles.
Courtney Barnett told DIY Magazine about the album, “I do feel like it’s a really joyful album, even though a lot of it was hard to write and hard to finish. There’s pain and all that stuff in there, but that’s just life. This record took so long for me to finish; I really struggled with it. Part of it, for me, was changing these habits in my life, changing these patterns. It was leaning into this darkness or confusion or doubt, feeling it, but then choosing joy instead. And I hear it in the final product.” -
