  • Elder Island Releases New Song “Snapshot”

  • Bristol-based electronic music trio Elder Island, consisting of Katy Sargent (vocals/cello), Luke Thornton (bass) and David Havard (guitar/keyboards), released the third single called “Snapshot” from their upcoming third studio album “Hello Baby Okay” on March 10, 2026, following “Pink Lemon” and “Ordinary Love”.

The track pivots toward something more rhythmically urgent, unlike the previous song and marks the band's first true love song.
The song is accompanied by the Photographique-directed music video, which unfolds within the pages of a photo album; stretching a fleeting moment into something timeless.
It was written by David Peter Troy Havard, Kathlin Kennard Sargent, and Luke Thornton. Produced by Elder Island and Alistair Chant.
The track features David Grubb on string section and Andy Lewis on drums.
  • The band said of the song, “We wanted Snapshot to feel like a journey. In contrast to Pink Lemon’s classic pop structure we created a series of emotive builds and breaks that flow through the song. Key players are the rhythm and the strings, it was our first time using a string quartet (if remotely) which was a joy. There’s a frantic energy to the track though the music and lyrics are soft and emotional which creates an interesting juxtaposition. Snapshot was one of the last tracks we wrote for the album, so it emerged from a point where the sessions had reached a flow state.”

They added, “We teamed up with the wonderful Photographique our local photo lab to make the video. Taking place in the pages of a photo album it captures the nostalgic emotive mood of the track. Huge thanks to all our talented friends who jumped in to make this one happen!”

  • The album is set to be released on May 8, 2026 and comprises 10 tracks.
It emerged from free-flowing jam sessions, reconnecting the band with spontaneity and the kinetic energy of their live performances.

The band said of the album, “This has been a real journey for us, coming out of a time of uncertainty and confusion we wanted to make something joyful and immersive. We slowed things down to carve out a time to write and produce, to reconnect with the music and each other. It feels like a fresh start. We hope the joy in the music shines through and echos the playful attitude we took in making it.”
