  • Lola Bates Releases Debut Song “Girl's Girl”

  • Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Lola Bates, formerly Lola Colette, released her debut song “Girl's Girl” on March 6, 2026.

The song will appear on her upcoming debut album “Love and Power”, which is set to be released on May 8, 2026 via Gravel and Echo Recordings.
The track examines the notion of morality and what it means to be a “girl's girl” through the lens of a romantic entanglement between three people.
It was written and produced by Lola Bates, with production by Maxwell Joseph. The track features puma on drums and Maxwell Joseph on guitar.
The accompanying music video was directed by Chandler Clamp.

Lola Bates said of the song, “I love a challenge. When my producing partner was keen on hearing a 'steady groove' track on my debut album, I accepted and wrote 'Girl's Girl.' The groove leaves space for the vocal melody and harmonies to weave like a serpent through the song. It's dark and sexy, and right off the bat we're exploring the complexity of 'Love and Power'-love, loyalty, power dynamics, and imperfection. No relationship is perfect, no woman is perfect, but we strive to show up for each other the best we can.”
  • She added, “The song was birthed in my home studio one night at 2am tuning into dark and sensual frequencies. The exquisite music video Chandler Clamp, Isabel Mesko, and I worked tirelessly to create. From building a set made of wool in Isabel's backyard to choreographing dancers' silhouettes with Meisha Lee, it really came together as a work of art. Everyone was so patient with me as I was touring full time, we spread the shoot out between a couple of months. Each scene was so much fun to set up and dig into, and created a beautiful storyline for the song.”

  • The debut album comprises 10 tracks, which she recorded with co-producer Maxwell Joseph, Grammy award winning engineer, Robert Carranza, and executive producer Tyler Bates in her Laurel Canyon studio, and in the legendary studio C at Eastwest Studios in Los Angeles.
It follows the journey of a young woman exploring her inner power and strength to take agency in life, love, and relationships.
