  • Gorillaz Performs “Clint Eastwood” & “The Moon Cave” on Saturday Night Live

  • British virtual band Gorillaz appeared on Saturday Night Live to perform “Clint Eastwood” and “The Moon Cave”.

This marks their musical guest debut on SNL.
“Clint Eastwood” features American rapper Del the Funky Homosapien.
The song was released as the lead single from their self-titled debut album in 2001. The track reached No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart.
The song samples Ennio Morricone's 1966 “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (main title)”, which was featured on “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack”.
The film “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” starred American actor Clint Eastwood. The song title is named after his name.
  • “The Moon Cave” features Indian singer-songwriter Asha Puthli, American rapper Black Thought and British-American sitar player Anoushka Shankar.
The song is featured on their latest album “The Mountain”, which was released last month.
In addition to Asha Puthli and Black Thought, the original version of the song features American singer-songwriter Bobby Womack, American rapper Dave Jolicoeur, and American singer-songwriter Jalen Ngonda.
Anoushka Shankar is known as the daughter of Indian sitarist Ravi Shankar and the sister of American singer-songwriter Norah Jones.

  • The band frontman Damon Albarn said of the collaboration with Anoushka Shankar, “I grew up listening at a younger age to more Ravi Shankar than I did The Beatles. So it's just kind of mad to work with a member of the Shankar family, and she's just a wonderful human being, amazing musician, really amazing.”
