  • Vanessa Carlton Releases New Song “Great House”

  • Rhode Island-based singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton will release her upcoming seventh studio album “Veils” in April 2026.

It is her first album in six years, following the 2020 album “Love Is an Art”.
From the album, she released a new song “Great House” on February 24, 2026.
The song is the second single off of the album, following “Animal” released last November.
It was written by Vanessa Carlton and produced by Dave Fridmann and Jon Fridmann.
The track features Dave Fridmann on bass, Jon Fridmann on synthesizer, flute and guitar, and John McCauley on guitar.
The music video, created by Patrick McPheron, was dropped on March 4, 2026.

Vanessa Carlton said of the song, “'Great House' is about the place that shapes you the most - this place can be a childhood home, or simply a time of coming of age. This song honors this soul-shaping experience and reveals that although we move on, we can never leave our ‘Great House’.”
  • She added about the video, “These images were captured by Ivan Besse, a projectionist at the Strand Theatre in Britton, South Dakota. During the 1930s, he filmed everyday life on the streets. He then screened the reels before feature films, drawing locals eager to see themselves on the big screen. The footage was eventually lost. It was rediscovered at an auction in the 1980s and sold for 50 cents. The reels later found their way to archivist Rick Prelinger, who restored and digitized the films.”
