Mumford & Sons Releases New Album “Prizefighter”

British folk rock band Mumford & Sons, consisting of Marcus Mumford (lead vocals/guitar), Ted Dwane (vocals/bass) and Ben Lovett (vocals/keyboards), released their sixth studio album “Prizefighter” on February 20, 2026.
It was released just 10 months after the 2025 album “Rushmere”.
The album comprises 14 tracks, featuring collaborations with American singer-songwriters Chris Stapleton, Gigi Perez, Gracie Abrams, and Irish singer-songwriter Hozier.
The band recorded it with American rock band The National's Aaron Dessner as co-producer and co-writer at Long Pond Studio in upstate New York over 10 days.
All tracks were written by Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett, Ted Dwane, and Aaron Dessner, along side American singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile co-wrote “Rubber Band Man”, American rapper Jon Bellion co-wrote “The Banjo Song”, American producer FINNEAS co-wrote “Run Together”, American indie folk band Bon Iver's Justin Vernon co-wrote “Prizefighter" and “Badlands”, and Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Kevin Garrett co-wrote “Icarus”.- The band frontman Marcus Mumford told BBC Radio 1 about releasing the album in such a short time, “We were in the middle of mixing 'Rushmere', but we just didn't feel like we were done writing. And sometimes you get into a pattern where you have a record that's finished. And then you sort of take a deep breath out, and you go on tour of two years, and you don't really think about writing songs. And we wanted to do that differently this time. Partly because we just missed it so much, missed being together, missed having an excuse to go on the road. And honestly felt like there was something still happening with songwriting, even when we were done with 'Rushmere'. So while we were in New York mixing 'Rushmere' with Tom Elmhirst. We were also in Electric Lady, starting to write more songs. And Aaron Dessner was next door and came in. And we hadn't seen each other for a few years, even though he'd helped us with the demos for our third record. He came through, and we started pinging ideas around, and then one thing led to another.”
- He said of the album, “I hope and believe and we’re in the beginning of something we don’t want to let up on. I’m more excited to be in this band than I’ve ever been. We think Prizefighter is the best music we've ever made, and we've never been happier doing it. With the help of our old friend Aaron Dessner, we found this creative flow that brought out the best in us as artists, and made us feel comfortable in our skins, and confident in what we have to bring to this mad world of music. We also thought the time, and the songs, were right to invite some of our favourite artists in the world to collaborate with us: Chris Stapleton, Gracie Abrams, Gigi Perez and, of course, Hozier.”
He added, “We feel like we’re hitting our prime as a creative force. We’re putting everything we have into this now, and we’re using everything about our experience so far to embrace exactly who we are. We’re comfortable in our skins these days. And ‘Prizefighter’ is us going for it - serious and playful, sometimes bruised and always hopeful.” - source : Apple Music
