The Crash Years Releases New Song “Afterlife”

Back in January, American rock band The Crash Years, consisting of Joel Cox (vocals/keyboards), Clinton Reed (guitar/bass), Tyler Brantley (guitar), Clayton Welborn (guitar) and Will Watkins (drums), returned with the new single “Evergreen”, their first release in seven years.
Following the comeback song, the band released a new song “Afterlife” on February 27, 2026.
On the track, the band delivers a spiritually reflective statement on grief, memory, and the promise of something beyond, blending slow-building dynamics, cathartic release, and early-2000s-inspired indie and alternative textures with raw, unfiltered emotion.
It's the song about mourning, but even more so about what remains: memory, faith, and the belief that hope outlasts everything.
The track was written by Tyler Brantley, Clayton Welborn, Clinton Reed, and Joel Cox, who also produced it.- The band lead singer Joel Cox said of the song, “Losing someone you love is something you can't prepare for. There will never be any sequence of words that could be strung together to adequately convey the massive spectrum of emotions that comes with it. Although an inevitable part of life, losing someone creates a feeling of loneliness that cannot be replicated by any other experience in this lifetime. If, like us, you believe in the one true hope of the world, that feeling of emptiness is softened by hope. Although many say they have seen it, and many will combat the logic of its existence, one thing is certain—there is always hope.”
