underscores Premieres New Song “Tell Me (U Want It)” on BBC Radio 1
American singer-songwriter April Harper Grey, aka underscores premiered a new song “Tell Me (U Want It)” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The song is the third single off of her upcoming third studio album, following “Do It” and “Music”.
It was written and produced by underscores. Also, she directed the accompanying music video.
underscores told Jack Saunders about the song, “It's my last like, true banger from the album. I had this idea for like, a pop record that I wanted to give somebody else. And then the more I was listening to it, the more I thought it would make sense.”
She continued, “I think there's like, for the singles. I think I've been trying to go for like, kind of big singles or something. And a lot of the other songs I was coming up with for this album were like, a little more like nuanced bangers, or they're like, sleepers or something, or like, they serve different purposes, or whatever. But this one, I really wanted it to be kind of like a big like, feel really big.”- The new album is her first body of work in three years, following the 2023 album “Wallsocket”.
She said of the album, “I think I approached it a little differently. I mean, there's always like kind of a journey. And there's like concepts I think that emerge the more I work on something. But this is just kind of like I wanted to make some fun music. But there's concepts and there's through lines that run through all the music, I've been making sort of since that album.” - source : BBC Radio 1
