Candice Lee Returns With New Song “Mr. E”
New Jersey-based alt-pop singer-songwriter and harpist Candice Lee returned with a new song “Mr. E” on February 24, 2026.
The song marks her first new music in a year, following the 2025 single “Wasted,” and will appear on her upcoming debut EP, due out in September 2026.
The track captures someone who remains a mystery in a relationship. Inspired by the play on words, after a conversation with her friends about their dating lives, Candice Lee coined the term “Mr. E” to describe emotionally unavailable, hard-to-read, and hot-and-cold partners.
Sonically, the track blends pop-rock energy with ethereal harp and a subtle country influence. Also, it reflects her commitment to carving out space for her harp playing in all of her modern pop-rock music.
It was written by Candice Lee and Evan Khay. Produced by Candice Lee, Owen Lantz, and Cyrille Taillandier.
The accompanying music video was directed by Tyler Haas.- Candice Lee said of the song, “I was dating someone who I just couldn't figure out, so I coined the term 'Mr. E' since it's a play on the word 'mystery' to call out people like him who are emotionally unavailable, unclear with their intentions, hot n cold, etc.! Do you have a Mr. E in your life?”
