Nectar Woode Premieres New Song “Lights Off” on BBC Radio 1

London-based singer-songwriter Nectar Woode premiered a new song “Lights Off” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The song follows “Stick Fight”, which was released last November.
She co-wrote the song with producer Joel Pott. The track features Joel Pott on bass, guitar, and keyboards, Tom Marsh on drums, and Barney Lister on tambourine.
Nectar Woode said of the song, “During this time of writing I found that other people’s opinions would play on my mind constantly and affect my choices and what I wanted to do in life. So, this is a love song about wanting to be with someone but having to drown out the noise and having to turn the ‘lights off’ which are other people’s opinions.”
She continued, “It’s about not being dictated by anyone's emotions and is also a form of growing up and realising you can do whatever you want. A journey to finding your love all wrapped up in a desert soul tune.”- Nectar Woode told Jack Saunders about the song, “I had a lot of people in my ear giving opinions on how I should live my life, as we all do within this social media age. And I was like, I want to turn this off. I want to turn the lights off from people's opinions and just live my life for me. This is kind of a protest song of being like, I can turn it off. That's the way I like to songwrite. Anyway, completely switching off, turning my phone off, turning them off, and just writing for how I feel first.”
