Ashley McBryde Releases New Song “Arkansas Mud”

American country music singer-songwriter Ashley McBryde released a new song “Arkansas Mud” on February 20, 2026.
The song is the second single of 2026, following “What If We Don't released” last month.
Both songs will appear on her upcoming fifth studio album.
The song is a fast-talking declaration that name-checks prescription amphetamines and Lynyrd Skynyrd songs.
It was written by Ashley McBryde, Chris Tompkins, and Jessie Jo Dillon. Produced by John Osborne.
The track features Billy Justineau on Hammond B3 organ, Caleb Hooper on bass, Chris Harris on 12-string guitar and mandolin, John Osborne on Banjo, Matt Combs on cello, Matt Helmkamp on drums, Wes Dorethy on Fiddle, and Shelly Fairchild on background vocals.- Ashley McBryde said of the song, “We've all filed an edge down here or there at someone else's request. 'Arkansas Mud' is about rediscovering and re-honing those edges. It takes some gumption to sing a line like 'Romans 3 and 23, don't you point your book at me,' and I know a lot of that gumption comes from growing up in the woods in the middle of the Ozark Mountains.”

She added, “Dimming your light or denying yourself causes all kinds of problems. Drinking problems, substance problems. Even as the chick that's known for sticking to her guns, there are parts of me I still let slip away. I don't mind telling you now, I tried to fill those spots with all the wrong things. And that time has passed.” - source : Apple Music
