Jonah Kagen Releases New Song “Talkin' About Jesus”
American singer-songwriter Jonah Kagen released a new song “Talkin' About Jesus” on February 20, 2026.
The song is his first solo music since his debut album “Sunflowers and Leather”, which was released last September.
As the single, the track follows the collaborative single “Mississippi River Bluebird” with Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors, which was released last month.
The track was inspired by a first date with someone of a different faith, a conversation that quickly shifted from a potential connection to conflict.
The experience became the emotional foundation for the song, shaping its themes of empathy, curiosity, and the longing to truly be understood, while reflecting on how the conversation shifted and a genuine connection began to slip away.
It was written and produced by Jonah Kagen.- Jonah Kagen said of the song, “'Talkin' About Jesus’ came from a date I was really looking forward to, that took a turn the moment belief systems entered the conversation. I realized pretty quickly we weren’t meeting as two humans, but as ideas being measured against each other. The song sits in that quiet letdown - wanting curiosity instead of certainty, empathy instead of judgment - and that ache of knowing a real connection almost happened, but never quite got the chance.”
