  • Fontaines D.C.'s Grian Chatten Premieres New Song “Puppet” from “Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man” Soundtrack on BBC Radio 1

  • Irish post-punk band Fontaines D.C.'s frontman Grian Chatten premiered a new song “Puppet” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

The song is taken from the upcoming film “Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man” soundtrack.
Grian Chatten recorded it with British rock band The Hours' Antony Genn and British multi-instrumentalist Grian Chatten.
The track was written by Grian Chatten, Antony Genn, and Martin Slattery. Produced by Antony Genn and Luciano Williamson.
“Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man” is a continuation of the British television series “Peaky Blinders”.
The soundtrack comprises 34 tracks, featuring new recordings from Grian Chatten, Carlos O'Connell, Tom Coll, and Amy Taylor, as well as a selection of songs from artists who helped shape the Peaky Blinders sound, including Nick Cave, Lankum, and Mclusky.
The film was directed by Tom Harper, starring Cillian Murphy, Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Sophie Rundle, Barry Keoghan, and Stephen Graham. Cillian Murphy also produced it.
The film is scheduled to be released on March 6, 2026, and on Netflix on March 20 2026.
  • Grian Chatten told Jack Saunders about the song, “I wrote this song with the help of my friends, Antony Genn, Martin Slatter, for people on his (Cillian Murphy) movie, which is out on March 6, very excited about it.”

He continued, “It was a bit of a balancing act. There's a lot of tension, and the characters, obviously, in the Peaky Blinders canon, are kind of full of tension. And there's two sides. I think no one's ever kind of straightforward. So I was trying to achieve that balance in the song as well.”

He added, “As I was working with Ant and Martin on writing these tracks, I had the joy of watching and rewatching the scenes, and different things would reveal themselves to me each time. It’s an interesting thing to not spoil or over narrate a scene and to allow the pictures to speak for themselves. It was a bit of a balancing act.”

  • Main actor Cillian Murphy added, “We're just thrilled that somebody like Grian is now part of the Peaky sonic landscape. And we've had such a storied and amazing lineup of artists over the years contributing to the soundtrack of the of the show. And then this was a massive step up for us to make a film. So to have Grian, Antony and Martin making the soundtrack was amazing for us.”

He continued, “It's like Grian was saying, until you get that mixture of sound and vision. and the two things kind of speak to each other. And that's the beautiful thing of having something tailored to picture, because it has to ride the emotions of the scene. And in this particular it's a quite a long sequence, but I think it's that thing I mentioned earlier about kind of danger and about having that rawness to it. And this is just, it's a banging tune on its own, but when you put it to picture, it's just really special.”
