Thundercat Premieres New Song “She Knows Too Much” featuring Mac Miller on BBC Radio 1

American singer-songwriter and bassist Thundercat premiered a new song “She Knows Too Much” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
On the track, he teamed up with the late American rapper Mac Miller.
The song will appear on his upcoming fifth studio album “Distracted”, which is set to be released on April 3, 2026.
Thundercat recorded the song with Mac Miller and keyboard player Taylor Graves in 2018, but the track remained unfinished due to Mac Miller's death.
This time, he received permission from the Mac Miller Estate to complete work on the song with producer Greg Kurstin.
The accompanying animated music video was directed by Léa Esmaili.
Thundercat said of the song, “I'm grateful to have spent my time on this planet with Mac. What an artist, what a spirit, what a joy to have experienced.”- He added, “What can I say about Mac Miller that hasn't been said, shared & explored with you all. I always considered Mac a 'one man rat pack'. Smooth like Frank, cool like Sammy, suave like Dean. I wish that you all could have been there with us the moment this song was created in his garage. Between Mac Miller, Taylor Graves, Josh Berg & I we all knew it was something special. So happy to be able to finally share! From Faces, to Swimming in Circles, to Ballonerism and beyond...long live Mac Miller!!!”
Director Léa Esmaili said of the video, “First of all, making this music video is a huge honor, as I grew up with these two artists and have admired their universe since I was a teenager. I wanted to create, within a single video, a fun animated moment by mixing styles either it's 2D animation or 3D. Beyond that, I wanted to build a burlesque narrative around two friends who spend a completely crazy day together, tied to their friendship and to anime of this kind.” -
Thundercat told Jack Saunders about the song, “Mac was a lovely young man. He's a very, very much a renaissance man. And I feel like we've all been here with at least one of our girlfriends at one point, right? So all is fair in love and war. I guess that's what I would want somebody to take away from this song.”
He continued, “And remembering this song, I remember he was kind of in process of moving, there was a lot going on in life. And I remember we wound up in Malibu, and it was me, Mac and Taylor Graves. And I feel like, a lot of the time the way we would work was like, it was press the spacebar and see where it took us, kind of thing. And this was the first thing that came out of us when he had, like, with this fresh new start, this was the first thing that came out of him. And we laughed because it was pretty funny. I mean, on a personal level, I was like, Jesus Mac. I was like, good lord man. But it was also kind of like, this was the man that he was. He didn't pull any punches when it came to what he felt and when he how he. But this is one of those moments, again, that it was just kind of starkly who we were.”
The new album comprises 15 tracks, featuring guest appearances from Tame Impala, Mac Miller, Lil Yachty, A$AP Rocky, Channel Tres, and WILLOW.
Thundercat said of the album, “I feel like it's in a way, they're all pictures of different they're like snapshots of moments in my mind, in my life. So it's kind of like when you look at a photo, it just is the things of what is it. A photo is worth 1000 words, or something like that. It's one of those things that's kind of what these songs are for me, they're photos. So it's like, I can't go like, Oh, I like this one more than this one. It's just who I was in the moment this was made.”
