Ms Banks Releases New Song “SOUTH LDN LOVER GIRL”
London-based rapper Thyra Oji, aka Ms Banks will release her upcoming debut album “SOUTH LDN LOVER GIRL” on March 13, 2026.
From the album, she released the title track “SOUTH LDN LOVER GIRL” on February 12, 2026.
The song is the third single off of the album, following “4C” and “WHY?”.
Ms Banks wrote the song as an ode to black women. It about what it's been like for her, growing up as a second generation, Black African girl in South London.
The track was written by Thyra Oji and produced by GA.
Ms Banks said of the song, “This really is the glue to the project, inspired by two true stories that are very close to home. On this track, we focus on romance crimes and domestic violence. South London girls tend to have a bad rep, but all the girls I know from the ends have always had a soft heart under a hard exterior. Due to not being shown what real love is, sometimes we fall in traps and end up giving the best parts of ourselves to people that don't deserve it. No matter how tough we come across, most of us just want to love and be loved the right way.”- The debut album comprises 14 tracks, featuring guest appearances from Tiggs Da Author, Layyah, Strandz, and Zinoleesky, produced by Hargo, OJB, and GA.
Ms Banks said of the album, “You never really see the words South London and lover girl put together, unfortunately us girls from South have a bad rep. My environment may have a part to play as to why I am so hard and so stern but deep down inside, there is a girl that wants to love and be loved. This is definitely the most vulnerable I've ever been on a project and just being honest about how life feels from my perspective, some past, some present.” -
She added, “Everything in my career has led me up until this point. I dunno if I've ever felt ready, but I guess being ready is a choice, not a feeling. Even if I was to never drop another project again, I could go out happy knowing that I bared my all on this album.
