  • Alana Springsteen Returns With New Song “note to self”

  • Nashville-based country music singer-songwriter Alana Springsteen returned with a new song “note to self” on February 13, 2026.

The song is her first music in two years, following the 2024 single “cowboy / hold my beer”.
Alana Springsteen described the song as “'note to self' marks the beginning of a story about the people and places that shape us, the ways we abandon and reclaim ourselves, and the lessons we learn along the way.”
The track was written by Alana Springsteen, Trannie S Anderson, and Mark Trussell.
Produced by Alana Springsteen and Mark Trussell.
The accompanying music video was filmed in her hometown of Pungo, Va.

Alana Springsteen said of the song, “To move forward, you have to understand what you’ve left behind - and what you thought you’d left that you silently still carry. I was a surprise pregnancy to two unmarried 20-year-old pastor's kids. they dropped out of college, got married, and moved in with my grandparents in pungo, va. Just like that, they were babies raising a baby, doing the best they could. that’s where my story starts. I learned to take care of everyone else before i knew I had needs of my own. be good. don’t rock the boat. look out for your brothers. keep the peace. i became responsible for everyone’s emotions but my own by default. I was an 'old soul.' 'mature for my age.' what i didn’t understand was that it wasn’t maturity... it was a form of survival. i had mastered the art of self-abandonment.”
  • She continued, “The day I wrote 'note to self' i had just left therapy. I sat down to write and felt nothing. I was numb. and that’s when it hit me. trying to hold it together was the very thing keeping me from seeing what was underneath. I didn’t need to pull myself together, I needed to find the courage to let myself fall apart. The title and chorus came to me on the drive to Mark Trusselll house. that writing session felt like digging up something I’d buried years ago. I pictured my younger self, held her hands, and told her everything she’d needed to hear but was never told. I found myself where i had left me.”

  • She added, “A month later, I finally worked up the courage to play it for my mom. it ended. with tears in her eyes she asked, 'Is that your story or mine?' Two generations. one pain. two women fighting the same invisible monster. That’s the moment i realized this song was bigger than me. It could hold so much more than just my story. If you happen to find your own demons somewhere in this song, I see you, and I hope the child within you finds peace with you.”
