favourite daughter Releases New Song “you but different”

London-based alt-pop singer-songwriter Lauran Hibberd, aka favourite daughter released a new song “you but different” on February 11, 2026
The song received its first play during BBC Radio 1 Radio 1's Future Pop with Maia Beth.
It is the second single as favourite daughter, following “pink bathwater” released last November.
“you but different” is a self-aware, slightly chaotic track exploring the limbo between craving intimacy and fearing repetition.
On the track, she captures the tension of being a hopeful romantic while simultaneously protecting herself, conveying the exact moment self-awareness arrives just a touch too late.
It was written by Lauran Hibberd, James Porter, James Veck-Gilodi, and Phil Gornell, who also produced the track.- favourite daughter said of the song, “'you but different' is about wanting love really badly, but realising you might be repeating the same choices and just hoping that it'll work out differently this time. It's that feeling of being self-aware enough to know better, but still romantic enough to think it's worth a go anyways.”
She added, “Finally a song for the settlers, a song for the i love lovers !! Even footballers wages are represented - so I really am taking on the world in this one. Wrote this with my favourite people, in my favourite place at 2am as a big fat joke but laughter sounds good on BBC Radio 1.” - source : BBC Radio 1
