Baby Rose Premieres New Song “Friends Again” featuring Leon Thomas on BBC Radio 1
American R&B singer-songwriter Baby Rose premiered a new song “Friends Again” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
On the track, she joined forces with American singer-songwriter Leon Thomas.
This marks their second collaboration, following “I Used To”, which is featured on Leon Thomas' Grammy Awards winning album “Mutt” released in 2024.
The track was written by Leon Thomas, Jasmine Wilson, and Lawson. Produced by Tommy Brenneck and Eric Hagstrom. It features Tommy Brenneck on guitar, Eric Hagstrom on drums, Dave Guy on trumpet, and Leon Michels on saxophone.
The accompanying music video was directed by Morian Mikhail.
Baby Rose told Jack Saunders about the collaboration with Leon Thomas, “We both have such an appreciation for the craft of music. And live instrumentation and yearning really putting like light onto the shadows and seeing the quiet part out loud in our music. And so I think that that clicks very well between us as artists.”- She said of soul music, “I think more than ever, people are yearning to feel something real and something that speaks directly to them. And so soul music, I'm finding it in the zeitgeist, is looking back at the ways things were produced in the past, like via tape or with analog gear, and like showing respect to these instruments that have a soul within themselves, I believe. They bring something out, the little detuning, the things that make it imperfect, but they feel vulnerable in itself. And so I think in the age of like AI and things just happening so fast at your fingertips, and everything feels like, go, go, go. There's that art form that just kind of like slows you down. And when you can witness it live, it feels electrifying. It feels like it validates everything that you may be going through. And so soul music is so important.”
