Rita Wilson Announces New Album “Sound of a Woman”, Shares Title Track
American singer-songwriter and actress Rita Wilson has announced her upcoming sixth studio album “Sound of a Woman” will be released on May 1, 2026.
This marks her firs album in four years, following the 2022 album “Now & Forever: Duets”.
The album is a collection of deeply personal songs and comprises 11 tracks, which she recorded with co-producer Dave Cobb at RCA Studio A in Nashville.
From the album, Rita Wilson released the title track “Sound of a Woman” as the first single on February 6, 2026.
The track was written by Rita Wilson and Amy Wadge, featuring Derrek Phillips on percussion, Phil Towns on piano, David Davidson on violin, Annaleise Kowert on violin, Jenny Bifano on violin, Rachel Englander on violin, Kristin Wilkinson on viola, Chris Farrell on viola, Dan Reinker on viola, Austin Hoke on cello, and Kevin Bate on cello.
The accompanying music video was directed by Steven Sebring.- Rita Wilson said of the song, “To me the choir on this song feels like an exaltation. Their voices represent all the people who’ve helped you get to a place of self-acceptance; they could be the artists who’ve inspired you, everything you’ve read, everything you’ve lived through. The idea is that all that power is available to you, somewhere deep within you, and it can no longer be contained.”
She continued, “I’ve come to a stage in my life where I’m only now just finding my voice, both metaphorically and literally. Many times, I’ve felt muted, not necessarily by the world itself, but by my own sense of propriety as a very private person in a very public life and profession. Finally, I asked myself, ‘Does anyone actually know what I think or how I feel about anything?’ Understanding and accepting that everything that life has thrown at me, as painful as some of it has been, has brought me to a place where I am more fully myself.
