Absnt Mind Releases New Song “Allestree Lane”

British boy band Absnt Mind, consisting of Alex Benson, Ashton Henry-Reid, Conor Marcus, Fred Meyer, and Oscar Williams, released their brand new single called “Allestree Lane” on January 30, 2026.
They wrote the the track with British pop rock band The 1975's tour member Jamie Squire, who also produced it.
The song captures the band member Fred Meyer's experience of leaving his hometown Derby aged 17 to join the band in London.
The band has already filmed a music video at Freddie Meyer's grandmother home in Derby, which is coming soon.
Fred Meyer said of the song, “This was an emotional trip down memory lane for me. When family circumstances change, you try to be strong for everyone, you put on a brave face and keep going. Sitting down with Jamie and the boys writing this song was so raw. I never realised quite how much the whole moving home thing had affected me and writing this song, reliving that time and the memories within those four walls at 'Allestree Lane' became an emotional process I wasn't expecting.”
He added, “An artist who can play, sing and write to a very high level is rare and a treat. Absnt Mind has five of them. So much talent in one band.”- Fred Meyer told BBC about the video, “That whole experience was quite emotional for me and my family. To be able to write this song is so personal to me. I always love coming back to Derby. It's my home. It's my people.”
He added, “The teachers are honestly so supportive. They believed in me, my music journey and I had the best teenage years here at this school. I'm so grateful to have been in such a supportive community.” - source : BBC
