  • Mary Middlefield Releases New Song “Wake up!”

  • Switzerland-based indie-rock singer-songwriter Mary Middlefield released a new song “Wake up!” on January 30, 2026.

The song will appear on her upcoming third project, which is expected to be released in 2026.
To date, in addition to “Wake up!”, she has released four songs “The Feast”, “Summer Affair”, “Will you read my mind?”, and “Bite me” from the project.
The track was written by Maria Mitterfellner, Gwen Buord, Anna Borkenhagen and Yvan Vindret. Produced by Maria Mitterfellner and Gwen Buord.
The accompanying music video was directed by Imogen Harris.

Mary Middlefield said of the song, “I wrote 'Wake Up!' from a place where empathy shuts down and contempt takes over, including contempt for myself. The language is extreme because the headspace is extreme, not because it's meant to incite violence or wish harm on anyone. It's about how self-loathing can rot into something loud, ugly, and confrontational, especially when you project it outward. The song doesn't celebrate that mindset or offer redemption; it exposes it. It's the sound of catching yourself at your worst and letting the tape keep rolling.”
  • She added, “I wanted to let you into my head with this one - into that quiet, ugly place where self-loathing lives and the inner voice gets mean when you're already vulnerable. This song feels like a conversation between me and that part of myself I wish I could love better. Nothing in it is literal - it's just the sound of a mindset turning on itself, loud and unfiltered. I started writing this two years ago with Yvan Vndrt and Anna Borkenhagen, and we've been sitting with it, living with it, letting it change us a little over time. Gwen Buord and I went through so many versions of the production before it finally felt right.”
