Sophie Gault Releases New Album “UNHINGED”

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Sophie Gault released her third studio album “UNHINGED” on January 23, 2026 via Torrez Music Group.
It is her first album in two years, following the 2024 album “Baltic Street Hotel”.
The album comprises 10 tracks, featuring six original songs and four covers, including Buck Owens' “Love's Gonna Live Here”, Robert Johnson's “Stop Breaking Down”, and Gurf Morlix's “Is There Anyone Out There”.
She recorded the album with producers David Dorn and Alex Torrez at Farmland Studios in Nashville.
All songs were written by Sophie Gault, except for four cover songs and the eighth track “Whiskey Would Help”.
The record captures defiant whiskey-soaked midnight expeditions and wild child confessions, crafting a record that feels at once deeply personal and side-eye defiant.
Sophie Gault said of the album, “I like making music and I'm proud of this one.”- Sophie Gault explained some tracks for the album.
“Pocket Change”
“I loved this song the second I first heard Mando's version. The lyrics are great and I love the attitude. I tried to give it as much attitude as I could. It was an honor that we got him to sing on it and trade a few lines with me.”
“Merlot Dodge Dart”
“Justin Townes Earle had that song called 'Champagne Corolla,' and that's what made me think of the title. It's about keying a dark red '76 Dodge Dart in the middle of the night after drinking a lot of wine,” explains Gault. “It's not advisable to do something like that, but I tried to lace the words with some sly humor, and I think hopefully you're rooting for this character at the end of the song. This was a last-minute addition to the album because we had just enough extra studio time. It's one of my favorites on the album.” -
“Stop Breaking Down”
“Everybody changes the lyrics a little bit, as is the tradition with blues songs. I tried to make it my own the best way I know how. We rocked hard-my headphones were coming off while recording because I was banging my head so hard.”
“Is There Anyone Out There”
“It's magical how this one came together. I've known Gurf for a few years now, and he's always been very supportive and encouraging to me as an artist and writer, which is a big deal to me. He's made some of the music that is now a part of my own musical identity-he helped shape how I play the guitar when I was listening to him all those late nights trying to work out licks that I still use to this day. I'd been meaning to do a cover of one of his songs, and while I was on a flight home from somewhere, I listened to Kiss of the Diamondback, one of my favorite Gurf albums. This was the last song on that album, and it put me in such a calm, meditative state. I decided that has to be the one I do. So I worked up my own version.”
