  • King Princess Covers Geese's “Au Pays du Cocaine” on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge

  • Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter King Princess appeared on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to perform a cover of New York-based rock band Geese's “Au Pays du Cocaine”, her original songs “Jaime” and “Get Your Heart Broken”.

This marks her musical guest debut on Radio 1 Live Lounge.
The original version of “Au Pays du Cocaine” is featured on Geese's fourth studio album “Getting Killed”, which was released last September.
Last week, the band performed the song on Saturday Night Live.

King Princess told Jack Saunders why she chose to perform the song, “That geese song is such a lesbian anthem. I don't know if he [Winter] meant to write such a lesbian song, but it really is quite d***-centric. It's such a beautiful song. 'You can change and still choose me'? I don't know. Ask some of your lesbian friends what that means. It really represents what it's like to be in love right now. A song about two people wanting freedom and wanting to be individuals, and yet are actively choosing to stay together. That feels extremely present, but also extremely queer.”
  • She added, “One of the cool things about being on a label with a roster like partisan is you are your eyes are open to a bunch of artists. That sit on the same label as you, and one of those artists was Cameron Winter and Geese. So the song that's been playing in my house a lot, a song that's been a huge part of my home and my friend group, so pays to.”

“Jaime” and “Get Your Heart Broken” are included on her latest album “Girl Violence”, which was released last September.
The album is her first full-length record in thee years, following the 2022 album “Hold On Baby”.
Both songs were written by Jacob Portrait, Aire Atlantica and King Princess.

  • King Princess said of the album, “Girl Violence is very sneaky. It's not physical, it's deeply emotional, spiritual, and spooky. women are both amazing and sinister- including myself- and it's my curiosity to understand all the love, loss, and changes that come out of my love for women. wHy are we so inclined to cause and receive chaos? if you've experienced even an iota of it, then you'll have a story to tell. and these are mine.”
