Matthew C. Whitaker Releases New Song “Chestnut Tree”

Manchester-based rock band HENGE's frontman and singer-songwriter Matthew C. Whitaker will release his upcoming second solo album “Songs For The Weary” on February 13, 2026.
From the album, he unveiled the second single called “Chestnut Tree” on January 23, 2026, following “Lucid Dreamer” released last October.
The song is accompanied by the Katy Anne Bellis-directed animated music video.
The track captures a moment of calm reflection, carried by intimate vocals, lilting classical guitar, and warm, understated instrumentation, brimming with gentle, jaunty charm and a nostalgic sense of Englishness.
It was written and produced by Matthew C. Whitaker, with production by Alan Keary.
The track features Alan Keary on hofner bass, violin, viola, andcello, and Rob Turner on drums- The new album comprises 8 tracks, which Matthew C. Whitaker recorded and produced with longtime friend and neighbour Alan Keary.
It is his first album in a decade since his debut solo album “The Man With The Anvil Hat” in 2016.
The record intertwines classical guitar, rich string arrangements and delicate electronics.
