Dean Lewis Releases New Song “I Am Getting Well”
Australian singer-songwriter Dean Lewis released his brand new song “I Am Getting Well” on January 23, 2026.
The song is his first music since the 2024 album “The Epilogue”. Also, it is his first release as an independent artist after misconduct allegations.
Last October, Dean Lewis was embroiled in misconduct allegations on social media. He admitted wrongdoing but refuted any claims of illegal behavior.
Following the allegations, he left Universal Music and withdrew from both the ARIA and TikTok Awards.
The track was written by Dean Lewis, Nolan Sipe, and Jack Riley, who also produced it.
The accompanying music video was directed by Sean Loaney.
Dean Lewis said of the song, “I went into a rehab facility in November. It was one of the most deeply moving experiences I’ve ever had in my life. I had no phone, I had to slow down and learn about myself, to reflect on my life and my mistakes, I had to connect and talk to people (I met some of the nicest people), actually talking to people instead of isolating myself like I’d been doing for 8 years straight.”- He continued, “I made a lot of mistakes, I own those. And when I was away I realised my new purpose is to write songs to show people that if you fall off the track, you can get back on and find yourself again. This is a new song called 'I Am Getting Well'. Which I wrote about 8 months ago as I was already on this path.”
He added, “Its for anyone who lost their way, who feels hopeless, or the worlds crashing down on them.” -
Last October, Dean Lewis said in a statement, “I understand why people are angry and disappointed after learning embarrassing details of intimate, private conversations and relationships I’ve had with consenting adults over the past decade, but I want to emphasise that none of this is illegal... The individuals leading the campaign against me have repeatedly acknowledged this, and I’m hurt by any suggestion that I’ve done things that have crossed into illegality. At the same time, I realise I’ve made an incredible mess, people are genuinely hurt, and I need to make changes.”
