Avalon Emerson & the Charm Announces New Album “Written Into Changes”, Shares New Song “Jupiter and Mars”
New York-based music producer Avalon Emerson's project Avalon Emerson & the Charm announced her upcoming sophomore album “Written Into Changes” will be released on March 20, 2026 via Dead Oceans.
It marks her first album in three years, following the 2023 album “& the Charm”.
The album comprises 10 tracks, produced by Avalon Emerson, Bullion and Rostam.
Avalon Emerson said of the album, “For the first album, the songs were pretty soft and kind of bedroomy. And then playing them on a big kind of festival stage was a learning experience. Coming back into the studio for a second round, it was important to think about the dynamics and energy of what we were making and how they might be performed in the future.”
From the album, she released the second single called “Jupiter and Mars” on January 21, 2026, following “Eden” released last last November.
The song is accompanied by the Ben Turok-directed music video.
It was written and produced by Avalon Emerson, Rostam Batmanglij.- Avalon Emerson said of the song, “Jupiter and Mars is the feeling of drinking a cold beer in the shadow of a big wave. Sometimes a salty end is inevitable, but it doesn't make a beach day any less warm and lovely. Everything is a waste of time, everything is worth the time. Life itself ends at some point, cosmic procrastination is just a another term for living. I loved chasing this song with Rostam almost as much as our two little dogs loved chasing each other around the studio.”

She told Rolling Stone about working with record producer Rostam, “Rostam really made it feel very welcoming. He's such a funny and smart guy that I felt like I could also be really nerdy and weird. It was really cool to go really deep with someone who's such a master at the craft. It felt great and I loved working with him.”
