  • Krooked Kings Releases New Song “My Friend Max”

  • Salt Lake City-based indie-rock band Krooked Kings, consisting of Oli Martin (vocals/guitar), Paul Colgan (guitar), David Macey (keyboards), Matt Monosson (bass) and Quinn Casper (drums), will release their upcoming fourth studio album “In Another Life” on March 27, 2026 via SoundOn.

From the album, the band released the third single called “My Friend Max” on January 16, 2026, following “Parking Lot” and “Rancher's Daughter”.
The song captures a softer, more lighthearted side of the band while retaining the emotional weight that has defined their sound.
It was written by David Macey, Josh Wei, Matt Monosson, Oliver Martin, Paul Colgan, Quinn Casper, and Yves Rothman, who also produced it.

The band keyboard player David Macey said of the song, “'My Friend Max' was one of the more difficult songs to finish on the record. The lyrics, structure, and lead guitar all went through many iterations until we found the perfect fit for each. This song felt like kind of a new direction for us, being a bit more mellow and cheery sounding than our usual stuff. Still that didn’t stop us from writing some bummer lyrics, I guess we just can’t help it.”
  • The new album comprises 10 tracks, which the band recorded with producer Yves Rothman in Los Angeles.
It is their first album in two years, following the 2024 album “Shiver”.
The record finds the band navigating the universal space between who you are and who you hope to become, drwing from the last few turbulent years, marked by growth, uncertainty, and heightened creative pressure.
