Skylar Grey Releases New Song “Motivation”
American singer-songwriter Skylar Grey released a new song “Motivation” on January 16, 2026.
The song is the second single off of her upcoming sixth studio album “Wasted Potential”, which is set to be released in May 2026, following “Nirvana” released last November.
The album tells the story of her life in her Wisconsin hometown before moving to Los Angeles.
It is her first album since the 2015 album “Angel with Tattoos”.
The track was written by Skylar Grey and produced by Danny Majic.
Skylar Grey said of the song, “I wrote this song because while it's easier to blame everyone else (labels, managers, etc) for your failures as an artist, I've come to terms with the fact that it's all been my fault.”- She told Wisconsin Public Radio about the song, “I'm about to release called 'Motivation,' and it's one of the more fun songs that I've ever put out. This song is a fun up tempo song about lacking motivation. But it touches on all this childhood stuff. There are a ton of lyrics in there about my childhood as well. So the whole album is childhood-based. Going through, it's kind of a coming of age story, going through a bunch of different moments in my life and then finally coming to a resolution at the end.”
