Arlo Parks Announces New Album “Ambiguous Desire”, Premieres New Song “2SIDED” on BBC Radio 1
British singer-songwriter Arlo Parks has announced her upcoming third studio album “Ambiguous Desire” will be released on April 3, 2026.
It is her first album in three years, following the 2023 album “My Soft Machine”.
From the album, she premiered a new song “2SIDED” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The song is accompanied by the Molly Burdett-directed music video.
It was written by Arlo Parks, Baird Robert Wittner Acheson, and Rob Bisel. Produced by Baird Robert Wittner Acheson and Rob Bisel.
Arlo Parks said of the song, “At its core '2SIDED' is about yearning and tension. It's about being struck by a bolt of desire and building up the courage to put language to that feeling, to make it real.”
Arlo Parks told Jack Saunders about the song, “I would say it's that it was made in a basement in New York in about two or three hours. So it was at this studio called Figure8 in Prospect Park, and I made it with my good friend Baird. On the day, nothing worked. We spent like six or seven hours trying to figure the studio out, and this one synth was the only thing we could get moving. And so he just wrote this little chord progression, and that's really all I had to base this entire song off. And I wrote it top to bottom.”- The album comprises 12 tracks, featuring a guest appearance from Sampha.
Arlo Parks recorded the album with producer Baird in New York.
Arlo Parks said of the album, “I danced more than ever as I made this record, I made more friends than ever too, found myself in the weird underbelly of New York juke nights, unleashed, laughed and laughed and laughed. This record has desire at its center. Desire is a life force, it's a wanting, a yearning, a momentum - we are all alive because there is something or someone we want - desire is an engine. But it is also mysterious, tangled, random, enlightening and HUMAN.” -
She added, “This has been 2+ years of blood, sweat, tears, dancing hard and loving deeply. I challenged myself to write it exactly how it felt, to strip everything down to what was essential, to be on some knife edge energy... This record was touched by so many talented folks but i'd like to specifically thank Baird - my anchor and partner in sonic crime - we really made something pure in that loft and I couldn't have done this without your belief in me and in this album.”
